Support For The Cuban People

Since 2016, CHACO Travel has been committed to legal travel that directly supports Cuba's private sector. Our guests always stay at privately-owned accommodations, eat at privately-owned restaurants, and engage in a full-time schedule that supports private sector businesses, entrepreneurs, artists, and musicians. In other words, we offer our guests the very best that Cuba has to offer.

Cuba jazz and art tour, c/o KUVO and Chaco

This was a tour put together by Chaco Travel (Grant Cohen) and by KUVO. There were 15 of us, including 3 from KUVO. I would highly recommend this tour. We had some intimate performances with jazz combos, with only our 15 watching. Some of the Cuban musicians are truly excellent. Chaco made all the arrangements, including dinners, a place to stay, transportation (usually in vintage 1950's cars), private and public performances, visits to artists' homes, and excellent guides. The main reason for carrying a lot of cash was art purchase. We made one visit to a marketplace that would only require small amounts of cash. By the way most of the time we kept our cash and passports locked up at our lodging. Travel to Cuba is mostly legal if you do the right things, and Chaco made sure we did the right things. The trip was definitely worthwhile.

• Organizational Trips to Cuba

CHACO Travel is a perfect option for organizational and corporate trips to Cuba. We plan tailor-made travel experiences for small, medium and large-sized groups, with a strong emphasis on providing comfort, convenience, and a fun, rich, cultural experience for all travelers.

CHACO Travel currently operates an annual "Jazz de Cuba" program in coordination with Rocky Mountain PBS and KUVO jazz radio. Our guests stay at the highest quality "casa particular" bed & breakfast accommodations, eat at the best "paladar" restaurants, and ride is excellently restored classic American cars. A full-time "experience manager" serves as a guide and an on-the-ground CHACO Travel representative, while expert guides in the fields of art and architecture further enrich the activities and excursions.

Best of all, guests gain access to private, intimate performances by many of Cuba's best musicians.

Previous programs have included Bobby and Roberto Carcasses, Yasek Manzano, Roberto Fonseca, Brenda Navarette, Emilio Martini, Alejandro Falcon, and more.  Our RMPBS-KUVO program also includes Jazz at Jibacoa with Ruy Lopez-Nussa, an exclusive beach concert with one of Cuba's most renowned percussionists.

CHACO Travel also offers programs with an emphasis on religion. We have a strong relationship with Havana's Jewish community, and we offer itineraries that include visits to synagogues, as well as the option to attend services. We also have a close relationship with a grassroots Christian church that combines protestant worship with traditional Cuban music.

CHACO Travel can organize an organizational or corporate trip that meets your organization's specific needs. Please contact us to find out more!
